  1. Is T-Pain a good singer? Is Billie Eilish an excellent singer? I don’t think so. If they were, they would not be using auto tune.

  2. You can say all this, but it is just forward innovation and creativity in a different way. People made the same complaints when synths were starting to be used. Now people harp back to those good old synth pop days and say they were the best. If AI makes terrible music it will not sell. Every so often a tune comes out that breaks the mold – Like Raye’s current number 1 hit. Still I expect it gets you youtube views, so what the heck

  3. I was born in 1970. What an amazing time to grow up on this planet being exposed so much great music. One thing we cannot stop is evolution. Put on your seatbelt and enjoy the ride.

  4. Isn’t it like doping in sports ? And u forgot the whole DJ-ing that mixex (pun intended) the two : looping machine AND the auto-tune..Adding a know good singer as a collaboration is only adding insult..

  5. I sell proctoring software, we use ai and machine leaning to detect cheating. 9 years old and your daughter is hip to chat gpt and it’s use as a cheat. wow….

  6. The great thinking in music was done 100+ years ago with Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Mahler, Strauss, Stravinsky, and Copland, etc. If a person really wants to enrich their humanity, they need look no further. When everything musical becomes fake AI, the best refuge for musical reality will be the live classical concert hall where musicians still put in the effort to become masters of worthwhile idiomatic expression.

  7. AI will never be able to replicate a Bob Dylan, a Springsteen or a Townes Van Zandt. It’ll just crank out Wall Paper and an audience of drooling Cyborgs.

  8. Love your posts, Rick. Have your Beato Book, etc. Just thought it funny to see how many edits used to put together this edition on computer assisted music;)

  9. It’s just continuing the down the path the industry started by fronting good looking people singing committee written songs. Instead of those songs having 16 people credited, it will be one or two “programmers” who wrote it. It’s sad because even though some of those singers might have actual talent, it won’t matter, because as mentioned in past videos, most of the songs are incredibly simplified vs pre-auto tuned music, and apparently many people eat it up anyway.
