The 6 Pieces of Gear Justin Rose Can't Live Without

He’s all about staying protected—and comfortable.

By

At 45, JUSTIN ROSE remains one of golf’s most respected and competitive players, continuing to contend at the highest levels of the PGA Tour and major championships. A former world No. 1, 2013 U.S. Open champion, and 2016 Olympic Gold Medalist, he has built a career defined by longevity, consistency, and leadership within the sport. All in all, Rose has secured 13 PGA Tour wins and 11 European Tour victories. What is often missed among the accolades is how much of a grind this lifestyle can be.

Ahead of his 18th appearance in the PGA Championship (in which he just finished tied-10th this past weekend), Men’s Health caught up with Rose on what keeps him motivated, focused, and, most importantly, relaxed during every Tour stop. These are the six essentials he can’t live without.

Supergoop! recently became the official Suncare Partner of the PGA TOUR and PGA Tour Champions in a move Justin Rose certainly supports. Given that golf revolves around walking and standing under the sun, sunscreen is a product he’s long been familiar with. However, not all have had the best results, and many have created unwanted side effects by clogging his pores. After regularly struggling with breakouts, Rose says his skin has never felt or looked healthier since introducing the lightweight Unseen to his routine. “My skin has definitely been clearer, and I feel a lot more confident,” he says.

Justin’s Heart Rate Monitor

The Polar H10 heart rate monitor is something Rose says he simply cannot live without, as he carries it with him whenever he’s training or on a course. He uses it to track his cardio zone while working out, but relies on it most for tracking his HRV when he wakes up to get a full picture of his physiology every morning. “That's probably the one bit of equipment that travels with me everywhere I go,” he says.

Justin Rose is a long-time wearer of Payntr shoes, even before he aligned himself with the brand. He likes that the shoes combine flexibility and comfort for the many miles golfers walk each day, with the stability needed to support a powerful golf swing. “More than hitting golf shots, we walk for a living,” Rose says. He also appreciates how the design balances natural movement and rotational support—a combination he says is difficult to find in most golf shoes.

Being on tour can be a grind, constantly flying to different cities and countries with little time to get settled in. To combat this, Rose likes to bring slippers for instant relaxation when he checks into a new hotel. Uggs are his go-to. “They're just like those little creature comforts to have with you on the road,” he says.

Justin Rose is a huge advocate for sustainable golf facilities, promoting environmentally responsible practices across the sport. As an ambassador for STRI’s Golf Environment Awards, he actively supports and celebrates courses leading the way in sustainability by hosting receptions for award winners.

On a smaller scale at home, one of the best (and simplest) sustainable practices is reusable drinkware. For this, Rose loves Yeti. Not just for its famed durability, but also the mug’s ability to keep beverages at an ideal temperature for long periods. “In the U.K., we like our tea,” Rose says, “So, keeping things warm, as well as cold, is always a good option there.”

Whether he’s on a long flight or trying to actively switch his mind off golf, Rose enjoys firing up a series—and his iPad is the easiest means of doing so. As for what shows he’s recently downloaded, look no further than Mob Land and Landman. “Sometimes you just need to block it all out with a good old series.”
