The 7 Best Pubic Hair Trimmers in 2026, Tested by Grooming Editors
These are the only tools I trust near my, er, tool.
LISTEN, NO ONE is going to say you must trim your pubic hair, but a little over half of all men do. Shaving, trimming, or hell, even getting a manzillian, comes down to a personal decision in both the how and why. Some guys like the way it feels, some like the way it looks, and some get a confidence boost knowing that they’re well-groomed down there. Whatever your reasons for below-the-belt manscaping, the most important thing to consider before you start is what tools you’re going to use to do it.

Trimmers are a great option for body grooming because they offer a variety of options. Most of them, at least the ones designed for the delicate groin area, have features to help protect the skin on your penis, scrotum, and surrounding areas from nicks and cuts.
They also usually have length attachments so you can choose exactly how long you want your hair (and even change it up as desired). Still, if you favor a close, hairless shave, you may want to turn to your old standbys: a razor and shaving cream. Whichever tool you ultimately choose will come down to a few factors based on your unique preferences.
What To Consider
Before diving into the most intimate of manscaping, it’s important to consider a few key components of the device you’ll be using, given the sensitivity of the region. Not only to avoid any dreaded nicks or cuts, but also to ensure that the process is completed as seamlessly as possible.
Battery Life
Whenever you’re dealing with a trimmer of any kind, the battery life is one of the most prominent considerations. No one wants their device to sputter out and die when they’ve only managed to trim half their beard, and the same is true for the nether regions. Sure, it may be less noticeable than having half a beard, but it can still be uncomfortable. Look for devices that can hold a charge for at least an hour; this should guarantee you two to three sessions per charge.
Any less and you’re going to have to really be diligent with charging after every use or run the risk of it dying out before the next job’s done. The easiest way to avoid this scenario is to look for a rechargeable device, but more on that in a sec.
Weight
If you’re a committed pubic trimmer and never travel without one, look for the lighter options to ensure you can comfortably keep them in a carry-on or bag without weighing yourself down. While the TSA and airlines do not generally have a weight limit specifically for grooming devices, they do limit the weight of your bags, so we recommend sticking to trimmers that are under 10 oz to avoid too much bulk. Plus, if you’re new to this type of thing, steering away from tools that are heavier than this until you get a better idea of the process will help you avoid any painful slip-ups.
Attachments
Similarly, how often do you change up your overall manscaping look? If you find yourself often changing up lengths and styles, you’re going to want to grab a device with multiple attachments and length options. The Braun Series 9 is the best-case scenario here, as it comes packed with nine attachments that create a total of 40 (!) length options. On the other hand, if you typically go full bald or keep it one consistent length, focus on the device’s head shape and blade material or close shaving ability rather than the number of attachments.
Head Type
- Cartridge Blade: If you want a 100 percent clean shave, stick to a traditional razor. There are a lot of reasons to go electric, but nothing gets as close as a cartridge blade.
- Foil: A trimmer with a foil head will get you the closest while using an electric device. That being said, this precision may come at the cost of agility, as these tools take a steadier hand to operate safely.
- Comb Head: These tend to be the most comfortable and mobile around the body; however, the shave will be less close. The material of these blades also plays a role in the trim's precision and the effect it has on the skin. This head will offer the most length options, often offering an assortment of attachments for different styles and purposes.
Blade Material
For the closest shave (outside of a cartridge razor), look to stainless steel or metal blades, as these can handle the most motor power and are more adept at plowing through thicker hair. While most of the trimmers on this list (and pubic trimmers in general) do not list their official motor power, having stainless steel blades is often the best indicator of a powerful tool, as it shows the brand looks towards the highest quality materials and performance available.
Not to mention, stainless steel blades are typically easier to clean. That being said, the risk of nicks and cuts is higher, so if you’re new to pubic trimming, opt for ceramic or plastic blades. These are gentler on skin, though they won’t get you as close to bare skin.
Rechargeable
Use a rechargeable pubic trimmer to avoid mid-trim shutdowns and eliminate the need for spare batteries. Keep it charged between 30 percent and 80 percent to maintain performance and prevent it from dying when you need it most.
Waterproof
Do you prefer to do your manscaping in or outside of the shower? There is no wrong answer, but whichever you prefer is worth keeping in mind when choosing a trimmer. Some are made to be used wet, like the Philips Norelco OneBlade, while others not so much. If you’re a dedicated shower groomer, focus on the fully waterproof options.
How We Selected
As Men’s Health’s grooming editor, I test electric razors and similar devices for a living. When it comes to pubic trimmers, we’ve been testing these devices for nearly three years since this story was first published in 2023. For this update, I tested or retested over 15 pubic trimmers and razors, while consulting with skin and haircare experts on which tools they recommend in 2026.
I also considered top-reviewed trimmers that had high customer ratings on trusted e-commerce websites. After putting each device to the test, I evaluated its effectiveness, safety, and value. Following 12 months of testing, these seven tools below proved to be the best for the job.
How to Trim Your Pubic Hair
1. First and foremost, make sure you have ample time and are not rushed. This is not something you want to speed through.
2. Position yourself in front of a mirror with good lighting to make sure you have good visibility for all the crevices.
3. Grab your trimmer and pick your desired length. If you plan to fully shave your pubic hair, set the length long enough to shave easily but not too long—about a couple of days’ worth of stubble. If you’re trimming, start with a longer setting than you want at first; you can always trim it shorter later.
4. Apply baby powder on your pubic area while it’s dry to help soak up extra moisture and plump up the hair.
5. With short, gentle strokes, use the trimmer to cut the hair. Pubic hair grows in a variety of directions, so you’ll want to go slow and possibly go over the same areas a few times. For your scrotum and shaft, go extra slow and stretch the skin to flatten it and make it easier to trim. If you’re trimming your buttcheeks, crack, or perineum, you may want to place a hand mirror on the floor to help see where you’re trimming. You can also place one leg on a tub or toilet to make the area easier to see.
6. If you’re happy with the trim job, then you’re done! Hop in the shower to wash off.
7. If you’re going to shave completely, once you’re out of the shower, apply a pre-shave oil and shaving cream to the areas you’re going to shave. The key here is not to be stingy with the cream.
8. When you’re taking a razor to your nether regions, you’ll want to be extra careful. Shave with the grain of the hair in short, slow strokes. Do not—I repeat—do not rush. You’ll want to use the same stretching technique on your scrotum and shaft as you did while trimming, and the mirror is ideal if you’re taking the razor around back.
9. Make sure to rinse the razor frequently to avoid clogs and reapply shaving cream as needed.
10. Once you’re done, hop back in the shower to rinse everything away.
11. Apply a moisturizer or body oil to the area to help keep it protected. You may also want to apply a moisturizer or anti-chafe product regularly (like at least once a day) to help reduce friction, which can cause irritation on shaved skin, especially below the belt.

Why Does Pubic Hair Grow So Quickly?
Maybe you’re a regular manscaper, or perhaps you just took the plunge into trimming out your nether regions. Regardless, one truth holds true: As soon as you take off the hair, it blooms right back again.
Sure, it might seem that your pubic hair is on a steroid-fueled regrowth. But that’s actually something of an optic illusion, says Dr. Alexes Hazen, MD, a reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgeon at NYU Langone Health.
People who trim or shave their pubic hair often believe it grows faster than the hair on their head, but that’s a misconception, she says. We merely notice hair growth more and its speed when it’s shorter.
With pubic hair—and other body hair—the entire process takes about 30 to 44 days, Dr. Hazen says. That means the same pubes that started to grow will shed in about a month to a month and a half.
